How do I keep the customer informed of progress?

1Use the live work milestones

Update the job through the correct live work milestones such as collection booked, picked up, in transit, delivered, and completed. Those steps are the operational backbone of the customer’s view of progress.

2Add notes when they help

If something important has happened, add a clear note rather than assuming the milestone alone explains it. Good notes are short, factual, and useful, such as collection complete, driver leaving site now.

3Use messages for discussion, not for hiding the workflow
